Something to consider regarding motor selection.
The power curve for all motors starts off the same. The difference between motors of different winds is that the lower winds hit a higher maximum rpm. The motors in general have the same torque curve....
Now, consider that the travel in the throttle stick/trigger is constant ie. the same regardless of what motor you use. (ignoring adjusted end points)
So if the rpm range in lower wind motors is longer than higher wind motors then the ratio of stick movement to motor rpm change is going to be higher in lower wind motors, and lower in higher wind motors.
This means the throttle will be much more sensitive with low wind motors. If you are a newbie, this is not what you want.
I have run 6.5 motors in my 2wd in the past, but the time you lose constantly focusing on being sensitive with the throttle is greater than the time you gain being fast down the straight. Outdoors in the dry I always use a 7.5 with a little boost. On low traction tracks I often drop to a boosted 8.5.
