Is there any reason why the 503 wouldn't work well as a 2WD buggy? And has anyone tried running a 501/502/511 in 2WD?

The only reason I ask is that I have had a bit of 'buyer remorse' since ordering my 503 (which left Hong Kong today). All of my friends that I will be racing offroad with this year will be doing the 2WD class. I already have a TRF201 with a Vega chassis, and I do plan to buy the new version of the 201 when it is available, but that may be a few months away yet, and the 503 looks so good with the gear diffs and big bores. So I am thinking about trying it in 2WD, as I have read that many people have done the same with 4WD buggies from other manufacturers, particularly the XRay XB4.

I will be racing exclusively on astro, so the mid motor configuration shouldn't be a hinderance, as there are 2WD buggies like the XRay and Schumacher that are now in that configuration.

It's got to be worth a try at least?
