Interesting what you say about the balance with Orion kit.
When I measured the Orion equipment it was about 240g for the motor/ESC/cap/switch/wiring and about 215g for the shortie lipo. As the motor / ESC etc. is further from the centreline than the Lipo it will generate more moment so the Lipo side would have to be havier to compensate for that moment so adding 34g under the LiPo just about does that ... I've actually got a 7g weight on my front Lipo strap post to balance my car out
