Its a bit of a fiddle, you have to take one of the metal holders off which secures the inner hinge pin. The one closest to the motor comes out easiest. then it can slide out from under the gearbox with a little persuasion. It takes a bit of practice putting it all back together.

I would suggest that you strip the rear of the car down a couple of times to get familiar with it.

If you have some time, i would take the gearbox out. Takes a bit longer, but less fiddly.
