Any of the 4 main cars (Carisma - gtb or gt14b, Losing Mini 8 or Lc emb 1) can be competative. The main reason we have a lot of mini 8's is we all bought them before most of the others were available. I currently run a gtb and am very happy with that but it is highly modified and I like belt drive cars in general. If buying a stock car I would personally say the emb1 kit is the best base as the spec and materials used are the highest. You need to spend quite a lot on a mini 8 to get it to the same spec.
