Could it be the unscrewing is a hint that either pivot or arm is damaged/out of alignment? That causes excessive friction too, and under normal circumstances a car shouldn't require grease on it's pivots. Admittedly I mostly ran Tamiya's in the past, they have a relatively loose/easy fit on all parts, so my view might be biased
