Pit tables eh? Hhmmm.. basically anything you have is usually acceptable... normally the bigger tables suit outdoors and, surprisingly, the smaller ones indoors.. but i have seen all sorts of tables in use including the type you have in the shed, so i guess they work fine... as long as it is sturdy n you dont expect to dance on it you will be fine..
