If you want to know the truth, they had all the old moulds but to make the new parts look consistent they retooled them all. They had to borrow a new built kit from Don Natalie in their customer services department to be able to measure off actual parts to check the new parts would fit the old cars.

An interview with Tim Tunnermann who actually designed the rerelease cars was in RC Car Action.

Roger Curtis, when interviewed at the RCX show when the Classic was first shown did say that if he was still in charge they wouldn't have made the rerelease as he didn't understand the hype for it.
