I was going rear motor purely for the outdoor side of it (and I'd found a half decent car at a half decent price that happens to be rear) and ill just have to see how it goes with regards to carpet. If it's too high grip then I'll just put on awful tyres!
99.9% of people will run mid motor outdoors on astro/grass. They carry more corner speed than a rear motor car, granted when its incredibly slippy a rear motor will be an advanatage and when I mean slippy, think very dusty dirt, not damp astro!

Centro's, Dex210 would be a good place to start, as they often come up for sale on ebay and here, parts are easy to get hold of and at club level, are very popular.

Electrics are a personal thing and I would strongly suggest buying new, as buying second hand, you have no idea what the previous owner had done! The speed passion stuff is good value for money with MBModels doing a good deal at the moment: http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php...-5r-combo.html
Please buy BRCA approved lipo's and a charger which is distributed by a uk distributor and not some hongkong special. Also charget the lipo in a lipo sack, this is a BRCA requirement, on Saturday there were a larger number of people not charging in lipo sacks.
