Adding boost gives you more at the low-mid range, exactly where you want it to feel softer and more progressive.
Adding turbo just affects the top end after a small delay, means that you can have mega speed on the straights and a silky smooth throttle response everywhere else.
Also helps over gap jumps with short run ups as you can have the snap throttle to clear them by gearing down a bit and still have plenty of speeeeeeeeeed.
Running boost just heats up the motor and makes the car feel less fluid in my experience, I'd go down a wind before adding any boost to an off-road car.

Boost also gives you a silky smooth bottom end though and just a higher top end. As mines set to come in at 5000rpm, so it's not actually active the whole way round the track until you hit the straight.
With boost I have a 10.5 with 0 timing the whole way round the track, as soon as I get to the straight at 5000rpm I have 17 degrees of timing come in!
I might have to try boost/turbo back to back too
