Yeah a 350D is getting on for 9-10 years old though, but depending on how old this is, and how much use its had, should be fine with a sensor clean.
It will be miles better than any bridge camera. and you can get a longer reach lens when funds allow. Lenses are all usable in the future, and (on brand) lenses do hold their value.
