I recently did the same & researched it a bit too much
(although ultimately went with an advanced compact over a bridge).
Canon currently have £30 cashback on the SX510 which brings it down to £170 on Amazon. Or the same deal on the SX280 which has a bit less zoom. Both decent cameras from what I gather
