I have to admit that I was in the minority by the looks of things, I had no idea that Apex were taking on JE. It doesnt feel like the JE business is being continued as such though, only the JE name. I can understand how this is good for Apex as they will hope that people continue to trade with the JE name as before. I cant really see how this is good for the people (staff) of JE though, or the racers in the north who used to visit the shop in person.
I have no axe to grind with Apex, I have never used them and currently dont own any RC gear so am not likely to in the short term, but I dont see how this is a good deal for both parties. Possibly in the background, wih creditors getting paid if Apex have paid money to the JE of old for transfer of the name and website etc. But the customer and the (ex) employees, I cant see how this benefits them?
I do think it is shrewd by Apex though, if they had just let JE die and then increased their stock levels in the hope of the customers migrating to them then they would have been competing against the likes of MB, DMS etc for the extra sales. By acquiring the JE name though then it is quite likely that they will have just secured themselves a much bigger slice of the pie.
