Better to mark your own with the shocks fully assembled and the collars adjusted up to a set distance from the lower spring seat position (there is quite a tolerance stack up on some manufactures top cap assemblies too!).

Only takes a moment and the marks end up somewhere useful.

Personally I don't mark mine, I set ride height with a gauge every time.
