Update on my race.
Practice day was a godsend as i had numerous problems. First issue was the alpha or 2000 wishbones snapping as impacts are not liked. Caused numerous problems but after that found that the original set up was close so ended up with no ground clearance on the rear and had the back sorted. Then got working on the front and tbh was a nightmare to find a resolve so wasnt satisfied when practice finished. Atvthe hotel due to a poxy gypsy wedding I was unable to sleep so ended up rebuilding the car and opted to give a bit more droop to the front shocks seeing as they were never limited in the 90s.
On race day the free practice was superb and the car was unbeatable, i blitz it and didnt make an error and due to that put me in a higher qualifying round. First and second round my zx knuckle arms would not hold my king pins so basically cost me a qualifying time and at this event best two count. Third run i was up to 3rd but messed up and finished 7th with a time good enough for the B. If i hadnt made as many errors i would have done another lap. Fourth round beforehand i decided to add 43 grams onto the centre section of my lipo tray holder bringing it up to with 27 grams of the original scrc battery weight and as i had nothing to lose put it on the track. i made a number of silly errors but put in a time i should have done in the second round and put me 9th in the B. The car was flat on the deck but was more nimble and also didnt cut the mini pin tyres at all and had a more driveable feeling. Still not happy about the front but i can focus more on that in november.
In the final i went from 9th to 4th and then my pinion decided to come off, gutted but considering the guys in front were quality drivers im happy where i am now, just need to sort the front out properly and then im going to give more.
