I can't say I have really had any issues with Savox myself. I have run them in micro, 1/10th 2wd and 4wd, SCT, 1/8 electric and nitro.
I have run both 6v and 7.4v as well.
The only thing I think is needed sometimes is a power cap if the bec isn't up to it in the receiver but again I haven't needed that either in any class's.
There is a lot choice with gear nowadays so its about what you feel comfortable with and what works for you.
