Back ground to the Boost
My first real knowledge of the AYK Boost was from the Pro Radiant. Mike Dunn had entered his Pro Radiant (wearing a BOOST shell) in the 1989 IFMAR 'worlds' here in Australia. His car stood out from the pack with its bright blue, orange with black and white chequers. Infact back then we used to have a popular TV sports show called THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS on channel 9. Mike's car was used in a promo of the event and was set up with a tiny camera to record images of the action out on the track.

In the beginning AYK released the original RADIANT (rear motor) and from there what I can work out is Mike and Steve Dunn created a hybrid mid motored car which would be the evolutionary step to the Pro Radiant and Boost. New chassis platework had been designed to move the motor from the rear of the Radiant and relocate it to a mid mount configuration. The original front gearbox housing carried over as did the suspension arms, diffs, hubs, wheels etc... The old Radiant shocks were rubbish and new prepium alloy bodied dampers were used.
I'm far from an expert on this but what I have heard was that Team RACE PREP had the pro Radiant as there own to market (US market I would guess) and the AYK company had their version of the same car with some slight variations which they marketed as the BOOST. The only real changes was obviously the lexan body, wheel colour, front shock tower and tyres (please correct me if I am wrong).
From here Team RACE PREP designed and marketed their own brand of parts to hop up the Pro Radiant which included items such as a saddle pack chassis, 48dp spur hub mount and many other odds and ends to create and even more reliable and competitive car.
