I've been thinking about making some new ramps for the club. Shown Chris and Jerry my designs. The current kicker weighs a ton and is pretty knackered now, it's bowed either side of the middle which wants to barrel roll the car, and the curve of the up ramp throws cars too high in the air to be safe. My idea would be consist of a plywood up slope, flat not kicked up, therefor a longer but flatter trajectory capable of landing on top of mats or a matching down ramp. The standing mechanism, also made of wood, would be capable of being collapsed flat against the board for easy storage and carrying. This would lock into place with the weight of the jump itself hold a block into a notch in the bottom beam, as shown in my pictures. Therefor simply picking the jump up would collapse it! We could make a number of them, an up and down for the main jump, and shallower jumps to dot around the track if needs be. The current 2 part wood ramps we use are very heavy, bulky in the trailer and are inconsistent to jump as they are. They spread and also the slide uprights over hang the top of the jump, catching the car as it leaves the jump and knocks it all over the place in the air! A number of us had this last week myself, mike riley and others as we left the top of the ramp!
