The rad2 was my first proper r/c car so can help on a few things.
The original rad 2 was supplied with bushings and not bearings so check it has them. The chassis had a weak point where the tub ends and gearbox sits, an upgraded chassis had a piece of fibreglass fitted to strengthen this. The chassis also tends to snap at the front kickup. The diff is a sun and planet geared type and was very strong but the top shaft onto the slipper has a gear with a pin in and tended to strip out under load. The original bodyshell was slim fitting and tended to be very brittle, but at the time you could get trx1 bodyshell and under trays to fit. The out drive yokes onto the drive shafts fit onto the diff outdrives in two was, there are 2 grub screws through the yokes onto flats and tended to strip out and there is a short countersunk screw on the end of the diff outdrives and must be thread locked!!
Also all the nylon parts are dieable and look better dyed black.
I am not convinced it will take the power of new lipos and brushless but could be a laugh.
If poss bring ribble next time ur there I would love to have a look over it.
