Hi folks
Dug the ZX-R out of the loft last week after a 15 year hibernation.
I would like to get this going again and have stumbled across this thread. All my batteries are knackered so might as well start again with all new electrics. At the moment I have a 12 turn brushed in it. Electrics have moved on a fair bit and I haven't a clue which lipo's to buy and which brushless motor to go for. Although I had my eye on a Tekin RS esc.
Any help in getting this going again would be much appreciated.

Rich,
Welcome to the club. Ok personally the Tekin RS Pro would be a good one to get as its small and easy to place on the chassis. Servo wise a futaba s9551 is a safe fast servo and always reliable. Motor wise i would advise fitting a lower wind like a 9.5 or 10.5 and would advise not going for LRP as its too agressive. Aim for a £60 motor like HPI or if you can find one a losi excorlin 9.5 as they are really simple and reliable and an easy solder, then again Vampire do one as well.
Ive designed a rear top deck mount which has an extra 3mm height which is on a link within the last few pages and by raising the lugs by 3mm means your cells will fit. Its pricey (i asked if they could redesign it) but should help. The front gearbox has been redesigned as well but you can always space the front by 3mm on either side.
Lipo tray ive designed but need to find the correct design. Batteries i use vampire as they are brilliant and an LRP charger but would advise getting one that charges above 5.5 and also balances.
Also worth mentioning if you buy 5500 lipo saddles you charge a 2C at 5.5
And if you do ever decide to sell or part ex for some items you 410k let me know, as i have a long history using those escs and need one for my shelfer when i build it.
