You can remove 2 gears and a shaft from the DEX410 diff assembly without concern for gear life.
It is a interesting tuning option, allowing you to 'free up the diff' whilst using the same diff oil. It also has a nice side effect of a 'lighter rotating' mass, giving the car more initial acceleration.

Some of the setups we have online show that we used the 2 gear diff config, i think they are dirt setups mainly in the USA.

We have tried them on astro too, but as always its down to driver preference.
