FWIW, I tried it. Built up two diffs, 7000 cst oil, one with 4 gears, one with just the 2.
Sounded like I had filled it with gravel. Notchy as hell. I suspect this is one for drivers with a big bag of spare diffs. I popped the extra 2 gears back in ASAP.
