As far as i'm aware it is only important that it is mounted flat on the chassis with the transponder number facing up. Mounting it on its side would potentially cause problems.

I wonder if it is more to do with a voltage drop, as the Loop on sunday was at the exit of a corner before the jump, so you would have been hard on the power. What rounds did it happen in? I'm just curious if it only happened once the grip was high.

If it is this, a power cap on the reciever would probably solve the problem.
