There are issues with both the diff and idler gear. You can reinforce the idler with a 1mm drill bit and fit a rc10 b4 diff in the standard gearbox with the help of a dremel. Neither job is difficult and then you have a strong and reliable gearbox. The problem is that once you do this and end up with a good gearbox, the driveshafts will wear out or the roll pins will snap or fall out of them very quickly. The thing to do here is to fit tamiya dog bones. I forget which ones fit but I think it's the front off a manta ray or terra scorcher. None of these mods are expensive and I have ran mine competetively with a 6.5 and 65c lipos and its never broke.
