I run inside on carpet/astro at Maritime Racing. I know the minipins are the best there but the bowties and wheels are brand new and seems a shame to just leave them in the box. Maybe i can use them for practice or general testing.

Thanks again. Jim.
You are welcome matey,

Best thing to do is take your kit along to a meeting and catch up with Garry and the other local TLR drivers, pretty sure that some of the TLR/Horizon southern superstars run at Maritime so you will be in the best hands.

Let those guys have a quick once over of your kit, sure they'll help you with some base set up advice on tracks you plan to run at and if you are new to racing then have a good look at what goes on and how the drivers tackle the track, you can learn a lot from spectating, picking up where cars are turning in and lines over obstacles/jumps etc.

With the tyres... dirt tyres will polish up quickly if you run them on carpet so grip will be poor and with the extra ballooning you'll get poor handling/feel so wouldn't really recommend you use them for any testing in that circumstance... with minipins on carpet you get really good grip so wouldn't compare to running Bowties.

You could always Acetone the tyres off to save the wheels or just leave them in pit box in case youever get the chance to use them for what they are intended.

Garry is spot on with advice on slower motor, especially if you are a newbie, it'll take a fair while to get used to lapping tracks and having a car that is easy to tame will help you cut down mistakes quicker and keep breakages to a minimum whilst you are learning... you may lose a second in a straight line to an experienced driver but it'll take a lot more seconds to get put back on wheels after a crash.
