I have done this twice now and both have not been over tightened nor have any of the parts warped.

The first gearbox i noticed the lid on the gear diff had been over tightened and the plastic had "butterflied" kind of so i bought a new one, this lid was straight and it still bound, as stated above its pinching the bearings not binding on plastic.

If i put the ball diff in everything runs free.
I have geardiffs in two of mine, know of their use by countless of others with no complaints - which leaves the common denomintor being that you must be doing something wrong. Sorry, but something's just not adding up with your story.

Are you sure you're even using the correct geardiff?
