May I say a big thank you for the responses, I was expecting to have people say they have the same issue, clearly not. Last night I downloaded a manual as I am away, and realised that the clips are directional, I just assembled them ignoring the direction of travel me being stupid!
I shall dismantle the car and make sure the clips are the correct way round.
