Cant remember what the specs are on the glass, Sigma zoom lens and it wouldnt be expensive given my circumstances. I'll give it another go with the standard zoom it came with. I tend to shoot in RAW anyway, I like the option of being able to adjust when required in P-shop etc.

As mentioned above Get a lens with the biggest f/stop (lowest number)
The smaller the number the wider it aperture opens.
Only issue with that is the wider the aperture the shorter the depth of field is. So you have to be spot on with your focal length.
