As much as I would like to agree Chris, but I think that is just a pawn in the social disaster that is Great (laughable) Britain. Probably being older than most of you on here, I remember growing up as a kid in the 70's and early 80's and things chenged dramitacaly through them years.
It isn't the bennefit system that cuases these issues but it is more to do with the fact that we went to being a country run by Goody Goody type people. When I started comprehensive, the teachers were allowed to pull you out of your chair by the hair on the back of your neck, smack you cross the hand with a ruler and dish out corporal punishment. Now, I will admit this is something that should not be used lightly but should be there as a deterrent. We all mostly behaved in school, and our parents were allowed to smack us and we respected the authority.
Today, I see parents without the backup and belief in them that they know when a smack is a smack and not a darn flipping beatin. As far as the Police have been told, if it leaves a mark, it is abuse. So, you got a boy/girl who is misbehaving and you try other things to no avail, so you go to smack the bugger for being misbehaved, what goes through your head.... best not, and the child, who is in the know turns to you and says, 'you hit me and I will phone Social Services'. The same thing happens in school.
Parents and Teachers have lost the right to 'control' a child.
But it isn't all the SS and governments fault.
How many kids do you see having tantrums cause they want something?? I see loads, mine don't do it, I got 5, they can try, but as soon as they use Tantrums or anything like that, they get fook all, but others get embarassed and give in, thats called 'behavioural conditioning' so the child learns REAL QUICK on that one.
Jim, one little peice of advice, if you ever EVER catch someone in your house and you decide to give him a dam good beating, make sure it is at the bottom of the stairs or on the stairs. The law is pretty adamant, if the 'visitor' is found downstairs, then no intent ot harm the occupants were there, if the intruder goes up to the sleeping area (upstairs) then you are allowed to use 'reasonable force' to protect you and your family. Just make sure he 'falls down the stairs' in the struggle.
Jim, good luck mate, sounds like you got a group of 'ellusives' that the Police know who they are but have to wait to catch them 'in the act'
