hi there
you have to have some form of volume compensation to allow for displacement of the oil when the shock shaft moves in to the shock body,
when you top the shock up with oil fill it to the top, then slowly push the piston in until it is almost to the top.
slowly screw on the top allowing any excess oil out, this will give you a little rebound on the shock shaft, if the rod shoots out of the body then release a little more oil by undoing the top a little to let a coulpe of drops of oil out.
