I've mainly been using the ball diff in my DEX210 for the last year but I've recently started running the geared diff, just to try out! As mrspeedy said, people do run geared diffs WAY too light, you would never be able to run a ball diff this loose!
I also race on astro and indoors on carpet, running the geared diff as light as 2000wt you lack drive out of corners and as mrspeedy said getting on the power round a corner it can easily diff out.
Good to know 5000wt has been working for you and each time it's getting better and better. One person that looked like they were running a sensible weight oil was Chris Doughty, I think he was around the 7000wt mark.
