You own the number.

Mylaps are the only people allowed to generate new numbers and their associated codes but once they sell you the PT its yours.

Once you own that signal you can do with it as you please (within reason). So if you want to make a different device that transmits the some signal you can. But only you can use that signal.
Its no different to buying a CD and then ripping the tracks to your iPod. Its your music so you can choose how you want to listen to it. Its only a copyright issue when you have the copy but not the original

This means MRT's 'cloned' transponders are legally fine. You own the original AMB/Mylaps and the MRT clones. I;m not sure how the MRT 'custom' versions don't infringe copyright though.....
