I've heard similar stories on the shock shafts of the Ansmann Mad Rat, they tend to get all artistic and warp into insane shapes when physics become say... more persuasive
I must say though, that must have been quite an impact if you even broke parts in the drivetrain! I hope you can get your car patched up soon!
