Sorry, im not sure here what you meen when you say MB remarked "they said that nothing ever happens and didn't do anything". Do you meen MB have said they won't seek a claim on this delivery ?
It is legally MB's remit to go after RM for the claim for a failed delivery. they may have to wait so many business days to do this, but they should place this claim, not you.
Now I have had no issue with MB at all, they have got parts to me no issue. I have had issue with RM....in fact any parcel's now I have to send I send by courier, I do not use RM anymore.
It's a shame your in this situation
