To be honest I don't see it as that much different to meeting someone new at a track, if they don't spout a load of crap you are likely to get to know them and to respect their views, if they do you'll pay little attention to them. In person, some people wear sponsored gear, some don't. On here if people choose to be as anonymous as possible, they may not be taken as seriously, although they could be completely anonymous and have a long history of great posts, which gives credibility in itself. So basically "I don't care", it's personal choice, just like how you present yourself in person is.
