This happened years ago but never stayed the distance like the established classes.
Rallycross bodyshells were available for buggies & we used to race them on flat(ish) tracks. I remember having a Sierra Sapphire & a 205GTi for my ProCat back in the day...
I think it was this that the current 190mm touring cars were developed from - because people wanted something more 'scale'.
Now they race on super smooth tracks 5mm off the ground & talk about how many RPM their 'boost' cuts in at...
I think short course brings very similar thrills - side by side off road racing
