usually i find the best trick is just to back the wheel nut off a smidge so it's not fully tight.

Another thing to do of course is ensure the bearings are nice & clean.. use a small tub (such as a camera film canister) filled with brake cleaner just above where the bearings lie in the tub to soak the bearings & give them a good shake in the cleaner. Then re-oil them (3-in-1 oil works well if you have not got an alternative) & refit. do this on a regular basis.
