I'd only buy an R to replace worn parts on a V3 or an older full fat car. Due to the price and SPEC difference the R isn't worth it IMHO unlike the original 2010R and the full fat 2010 car where the price difference was massive between the two.
The V3 R is of a lesser spec then the 2010R and the same price when it was released.
Mine was a 2010 R and I was keeping it (still have it) so I upgraded it gradually.
If you already have the V3R you can get carbon shock towers from Fibre Lyte and get the alloy front wishbone hanger that will make it stronger. Over time add the upgrades, big bores aren't necessary and a lot of team drivers use the small bores with big bore springs on the 410.
It's a good car but it'd be the full fat V3 if I was buying from scratch.
