Exactly the same issue Mark had, I had once when racing. Realised it was fine if I wiggled the module, so whipped the case off and I think there was 2 cracked solder joints where the pins go into the board. 5 minutes later and all was good again. I'd check that first if it's a tranny where you can take a module out. So easy to damage the pins. Also maybe check the pins are nice and clean, bare metal, no crap, causing a dodgy connection...
