People always want what they don't have
As I said, we were all set to put in some paving a few months back but then I got into a conversation with the Southport committee and found their members were asking to astro over their hard surfaces due to tyre wear. You can't please everyone - and the most vocal people tend to be those not currently pleased.
I know drivers break cars not the track, but you know what - if they break their car for whatever reason, go home and don't come back thats a member lost. A harsh reality of our current racing scene is that, whilst its full of people who raced at Bury years ago very few have been back for even 2 years. New members are the clubs lifeblood. In addition, many of the returnee's are now parents, so the track should be newbie and kiddie friendly. That means even a bad driver shouldn't break too much stuff!
People leave the club for money or family reasons - not because of the track. But if the track isn't accessible to the new people that replace them numbers dwindle and the club dies.
