Mod or not the steering arms will still noly trail as far as the sweep no the steering cranks, so moving the ball joint in on the steering crank makes no difference to tightness of the kunckle against the C-Hub.
Both me and Stu looked at this last night and can't see how your wheel is causing so much play. At full lock the knuckle is held firm against the c-hub.
I would recommend if you can taking photo's of your setup and posting them, it may be something simple is causing this (and being human it can be overlooked easy enough).
