I will second Stu here. The wheels both can be made to lock in place at full lock. Take a look at your end point and other steering settings on your transmitter. Make sure they are all set to full and then adjust them back to take any servo strain out of the equation.
Jorn's mod was purely to do with ackerman, not a fault or anything else. Im running the Exotek steering arm to and this is just fine.
