Why would you want it in aluminium? Tamiya's aluminium motor pinions show how quickly that can wear. The plastic should last longer and as long as you have a good mesh and don't completely tighten your slipper the teeth shouldn't strip either. And this is without taking rotational mass into the equation, an aluminium spur can alter the handling (like using a flywheel on an X6, though the actual effect may differ).
