DO NOT put any grease or oil on pinions or spur gears. It will pick up dirt and debris and wear out fast. This stuff should only be used in sealed areas like geraboxes, servos, etc. Also, never put lube on belts and pulleys - not only will they pick up dirt and wear too, it will promote belt slip and jumping teeth on pulleys.
