I've run a rally converted touring car around astroturf tracks no problem, with the added advantage you can't break a shock mount if it lands upside down. Jumps definitely aren't a problem, they jump as well as a buggy, the only problem is they can't run over grass unless it's cropped really short.

Strangely enough a bunch of scale rally cars appeals to the (non off road racing) masses more than a totally unscale modern buggy.

If you want something as capable as a buggy any of the older guys remember when we raced these? For the younger members yes it's a buggy under the shell.
