I run the alloy hubs, with avid carbon tops. When assembling mine, noticed I'd have to swap the ball studs to the other side of the carbon top, which then means the rod end will foul the alloy hub at the extremities of travel. swapping left to right sorted it out, and as i'm on 0.0 deg hubs, has no effect on toe-in.
I also read some setup sheets and noted that others had done it too.
