That ESC should have no trouble in 2WD with a 6.5. I think you should try a differnet gear ratio.
From what I can tell I think you have a final drive ratio of 8.82. For a 6.5 in 2WD Losi recommends 10.8.
That would be nearer a 19T pinion. Try reducing the pinion size and see how you get on.
