It is proposed to have a stock kit class and an open class, see the link posted above for the full set of rules that are proposed.
The politics is not a Mardave thing, it is a 12th oval thing. It unfairly gets the 'Mardave' label because that is the only car they use, and the manufacturer gets tagged with a label it does not deserve. We've had no politics at all in the Circuit Racing events supporting the BRCA Nationals, and will be making sure it stays that way. Mardave and Chris Wilkinson have been really supportive of the series, and excellent partner for an inaugural season. Mardave is the original 12th car on which may of us cut our 12th teeth 30-odd years ago. It's good to see it still around and still attracting drivers.
Schumacher will put some competition into this class, and that usually makes it more attractive, not less. The posts above reflect that. As for their chassis being faster than the Mardave chassis, that's not proven. As there is more interest in the class there is more development and then racing gets closer as we all exploit as much from the tyre as we can. Racing gets closer, not further apart. Look at 12th Spec racing - five different chassis, a dozen different motors, scores of different cells and many different speedos - and less than 10% difference in laps across a field of 60 drivers!
I think the Schumacher car will generate a lot of ideas for racing various combinations of electrics. As long a people remember that BRCA Rules are for National competition, and that Clubs should find classes (as many as you like!) that get drivers in and racing, then this is going to inject some new life into RC. One variation is not better or worse than another - the best variation is the one that gets you more drivers at your Club. To get more drivers, simply have more variations!
Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh...
