Hi Chris,
The tyres that work at Eastbourne during the summer are:
Sorex 32 - quick, consistent and long lasting. One set should last about 4 meetings before the drop in performance is really noticeable.
VTECH 30 - quickest, but don't last very long. You'll get 1 really, really good run, 1 more not quite so quick run and the then they drop off a cliff, usually caused by the ring of death on the front left tyre. Running a stiff diff up front might mitigate that problem though.
RP30 - Somewhere between the VTECH and Sorex in speed, but likely to shred badly after only one run.
If the temps really go up (hopefully), then a Sorex 36 is a great tyre to have in the box.
If it is cold, Sorex 28s can be useful, but again, expect them to shred after the first run but still be driveable for a few more.
If it is really cold (like last night), Sorex 24s are probably the best tyre, but again, you won't get much life out of them.
Don't skimp when buying tyres, loads of folk have tried the budget brands and they have all gone in the bin after one round.
- Tim.
