Hi Mark,

Nothing secret about it, it just that all/most of the RC world is voluntary, only a few of the big manufacturers and a small handful of drivers work full time on it.

The BRCA that organises the sport nationally is exactly the same, they are all voluntary, but I believe their website does have contact phone numbers on it if you know where to look! The top head guy of the BRCA is a guy called Chris Hardisty, try seaching out his contact details, he would be able to help advise you on who to speak to.

Depending on what sort of event you want to run you may need to pick the right class of racing....this forum is primarily a 1/10th offroad forum, but the sport does have various different scales and types of racing that happen all across the country.

If it's 1/10th offroad that your interested in, as mentioned already check the club listing here for the one closest, a quick search through the club pages on here should find you websites, contacts, etc, but in terms of 'heavy weight' contacts, the best you will do is to find the club chairman. And even then, as outdoor clubs are setup very much in their own plot of land, you will need to get very lucky to find someone who has the resources to move/setup a track and the required facilities on a new piece of land somewhere for a one off event.

Not trying to be dismissive of your idea, as it does sound like fun, and I'm sure one of the clubs up that way would jump at the chance, anything for another days racing! But just be aware it's not a professional world to the same degree as 1:1 motor sports, and setting up a one off event is no small amount of effort for volunteers!

So with all that said...and not knowing that particular area of the UK very well, I would suggest trying to speak to James Helliwell (His profile is called "james" on here ***CLICKY***. He helps run the Robin Hood Raceway, which is part of the York club. They have one of the best RC facilities in the country, and have the man power of a number of countries best drivers behind them.

In that area if I was trying to do anything then I'd probably speak to him...not sure if he'd be able to help directly, they are pretty busy with their own projects at the moment, but he might know who could help you!

Good luck with it, look forward to hearing all about once its organised!
